Zohran Mamdani is a New York State Assemblymember representing District 36 and a Democratic Socialist running for Mayor of New York City.


  • Background: Born in Uganda to Indian parents and raised in New York City after living in Cape Town. Son of filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani.
  • Career: Worked as a foreclosure prevention housing counselor before entering politics. Graduated from Bronx High School of Science and Bowdoin College.
  • Time in Office: Assumed office January 1, 2021 after defeating four-term incumbent Aravella Simotas. Member of multiple Assembly committees.
  • Major Accomplishments: Won New York's first fare-free bus pilot and helped taxi drivers achieve over $450 million in debt relief through hunger strike.
  • Current Platform: Campaigning to lower costs for working-class New Yorkers through rent freezes, fare-free buses, city-owned grocery stores, and taxing wealth.

Curtis Sliwa is running for Mayor of New York City to empower the ones who power it everyday.


  • Background: Curtis Sliwa founded the Guardian Angels in 1979 at age 24 to combat rising crime in NYC. Starting with the "Rock Brigade" at a Bronx McDonald's and evolving into the "Magnificent 13" patrolling trains and protecting LGBTQ individuals, the initiative grew into an international movement.
  • Career: As founder of the Guardian Angels, Sliwa expanded the organization from 13 members to hundreds internationally, providing crime prevention, youth mentoring, and community services. He later became a broadcaster and has previously run for mayor as the Republican nominee.
  • Time in Office: Curtis Sliwa has never held elected office, but brings a fresh perspective as a political outsider who understands the challenges facing everyday New Yorkers, particularly those who feel one paycheck away from being pushed out of the city.
  • Major Accomplishments: He has led numerous public safety initiatives, organizing communities to step up against crime and quality of life issues while consistently advocating for crime victims and vulnerable communities.
  • Current Platform: Curtis is focused on making New York safer and more affordable. His platform consists of four main points: affordable housing, public safety, education, and revive nyc: his economic agenda, which is focused on housing and helping small businesses.

  • Background: Like many New Yorkers, Eric Adams grew up facing adversity in Brownsville and South Jamaica, raised by a single mother who cleaned houses to support her six children. Experiencing violence from a police officer as a teenager, Eric decided to reform the police department from within, later joining the NYPD and founded 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement.
  • Career: Eric built his reputation as a reform-minded police officer, State Senator, and Brooklyn Borough President, consistently advocating for public safety and community empowerment.
  • Time in Office: Eric Adams currently serves as Mayor of New York and has served as Brooklyn Borough President since 2014, following four terms as a New York State Senator, bringing extensive experience in both law enforcement and public service.
